One finish and some almost finished....

So the move is starting to take shape.  I have packers coming in early October who will pack, then the movers come after that and then they will store my stuff until I know when my house is ready.  So finishing things just isn't in the picture  I have so much to do to prepare for the packers since I'm not taking a lot of my stuff.  But you are here to look at what I have done since August. I had this fabric and pattern from a magazine for many, many years.  I don't remember when but I think it was in the early 2000 that I have been saving this.  It's in a box - ready to be pinned and quilted one day. Here's a little runner I finished for my quilt guilds annual boutique.  I am unable to make much this year - I usually spend the month of September making stuff but this year....The embroidery designs are from Urban Threads - their Gilded collection.  They are beautifully done.  I ordered all the rayons and metallics for them because I want...

A Green and White Finish

A Bonnie Hunter quilt minus the fussy sashing and border I started this quilt at the Seven Sisters Quilt Show class I took with Bonnie Hunter over two years ago.  It was sitting in a plastic box until a few months ago when I thought I better tackle it and get it over before I forget how to do it.  It had so many parts and those big triangles are my worst blocks ever to make and the sashing required teeny tiny blocks just like that and I thought there is no way I'll ever do those - so I simplified and just added a plain white sashing with green cornerstones.  I still love it.  I will use the strips on another project so no fabric was wasted.    I'm currently working on another quilt that I had kitted up for years.  It uses French General fabric and the pattern is from the November/December 2009 McCalls Quilting magazine.  I love the colors and can't wait for it to be finished.  It called for 544 half square triangles which I used the pa...

So Much Change

Where to begin.  My husband passed away May 24, 2021.  He died from complications of alcoholism.  He was on a ventilator for 17 days and in the hospital for 20.  He was brought to the hospital from a Detox Center as he was going to try to sober up.  His detoxing brought such heavy seizures that the medical Detox center couldn't control it.  After the 16th day of being on a ventilator, and he was not showing any signs of improvement, had pancreatitis, pneumonia, etc., Jeff's dad, his daughter and I decided to not put him through any more so we had the ventilator removed.  He only lasted about 5 minutes after.  However, earlier that day they did reduce his medications so he was aware and awake enough for each of us to say our goodbyes to him.   He knew he was dying.  I'm finding out from a few of his friends that said he knew something else was wrong but he didn't want to go to the doctor.  He had been calling himself Dead ...

Finally some quilt finishes

I finally finished the Orca Bay quilt.  I started this quilt probably 5 years ago.  I didn't work on it until 2020 though so it was just sitting collecting dust.  But now it is fully finished.  yeah! As with many Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville) quilts, it has many, many little pieces.   A few years ago I won some of our guild block of the month blocks.  My sister's mother-in-law moved into an assisted living facility and had to give up a lot of her fabrics which my sister shared with me.  She had this lovely Christmas fabric that worked great with these blocks.  And she had some floral fabrics that I was able to use for the back.  I will donate to the guild's boutique. Her mother in law also had some baby quilt kits - the fish one she already had pieced and pinned.  The pink one was a kit she had so I quickly put it together and did some basic quilting. I was also asked by my son-in-law to make a family sized Disney quilt with Minky on t...
