My friendship group Materials Girls had our Christmas party this afternoon where we show our challenge quilts, do a little quilt exchange and have wonderful fellowship with each other. We also choose our next years challenge.
Here's the group shot.
Back row: Rita, Anna, Barb, Sheila, Deolinda, Elaine and Diane
Front row: Maxine, Debbie, Kathy and Carol
Missing this year were Janice (who was sick), Lynn Marie, Barbara B. and Adena who had other plans, and Sue.
Our challenge this year was to make a quilt with a house on it. This is a no pressure group and for these types of challenges, if you don't get it done, it's no big deal. Here are the quilts that were done.

And she had Darby long arm this 2009 guild mystery quilt. |
And years ago, we all gave each other little gifts at Christmas but with 17 in the group at the time, it just got to be too much so we decided that those who want to participate can make a 12 inch (or so) mini quilt and bring it to the lunch in a brown bag. Carol's daughter numbers them and puts them on a wall and we all have to guess who made what quilt. Winner gets a prize. And after those, who made quilts draw numbers and we get those quilts as gifts. Only 5 of us participated this year but only 4 were there since Janice was sick. But she did send a picture so we included it in the exchange. Here are the 4 that were there. Mine is the deer head quilt.

This is Janice's - which is the one I got. |
I wish I took close up pictures of them all. They were all so great. The bottom left is all cross stitch. Wonderful!!!!
Next year we're doing a block exchange. We all chose different styles and block sizes and each of us has to make one for everyone. Example - 4 of the group want crazy quilt blocks with jewel colors, Easter blocks (me), Halloween blocks, Christmas blocks, alphabet blocks, star blocks, etc. They all have to be signed as well. We have to June to make the blocks and by Christmas we have to put the blocks into a quilt.
Thanks for looking.
Thanks for sharing. I had not picked the correct small quilt for you. I thought you had made the trees.
ReplyDeleteAll of you are such busy quilters! I really enjoyed seeing all of your wonderful work.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Your group is always so productive!! I love the way you egg each other on to both finish old projects and try something new. An inspiration. As always.
