Pointless Quilter

I don't have internet at home right now - well it's there, it's just my laptop won't connect.  It goes to the PC doctors this Thursday or Friday for some repairs and until then, I have no internet except through my phone. So because of that, I got a lot done this weekend.  First and foremost, I did my FMQ challenge.  The teacher this month is Wendy Sheppard - this month was the hardest for me.  We had to do these cute little jester hats.  However mine look more like bats that had no rhyme or reason.  My paper doodling was much better.  However this does fill the space and is a lot different from the scribbling or meandering. I dedicated this weekend to making boutique items for our guild.  We are having our first annual boutique in October and no one is sure what type of items will sell so we're trying all different kind of things.  The first things I made were these ties.  The blog where I got the pattern for the bow ties doesn't seem to be up anymore.  T

I took Judy Sisneros' class called Circle Pizzazz two weeks ago through our guild.  Since I borrowed the templates I had to cut and make the quilt so I could give them back.  Everyone was using batiks and patterned fabrics and all kinds of combos.  I was the only one to attempt solid hand-dyes.  I really like how it came out.  My goal was to use "cool" colors in the background and "warm" colors in the circles. I also decided to do a little, and I mean little, organizing today.  My friend Adena had a 3 tiered rack next to her machine and I liked that so I went to Hobby Lobby today and found this.  I had to move the bulletin board up and while doing that, I cleaned it up a bit.  Also changed a light switch plate in my dining room.  The old one I had wrapped in textured wallpaper and painted it years ago and it was kind of falling apart and was bugging me for months.  Then while at Hobby Lobby I found more hooks for my necklaces.  I had the big one in the

Look what I won during Linda Lum DeBono's Sew Merry and Bright Book Tour to promote her new book.    I commented on Pat Sloan's blog  and she drew my name to win a copy of the book, which I got in the mail today.  There are some cute things I'd like to make.  A simple pillow that will make a great gift and some cute little ornaments.  Thanks to Linda and Pat. I went to my Tuesday night friendship group meeting and when I got home didn't feel like sewing so decided to do some more scrapbook pages for my sister-in-law/niece and nephew.  Here are two more pages for their album. Marcy's family is pretty musical and they all have fun singing and playing instruments.  Also, alot of different fish to catch and eat.  Had to do a page about that too. The rockstar/music page was a template I got for free years ago on 2 Peas in a Bucket and the fish overlay on the fish page is from Designer Digital.

A few years ago, I made a quilt using lots of yellow, greens, and turquoise.  I have it on my bed now but no end table toppers to keep the dust off until this weekend.  First though, a few friends and I got together last weekend to make this Crazy Eight topper.  Here it is on my dining room table.  Very summery!  So I had an extra strata and thought I'd use it to make two end table toppers.  Added some turquoise and a few extra strips and voila! No more dusting in the bedroom. My sister-in-law gave me some pictures of their trip to the Hood Canal this year and asked if I would create some pages for Drew and Claire's scrapbooks.  It's been a while since I have worked on their album but she got some great photos this year and they had such a good time, she wants them to remember it.  So I started with these 2 pages. Both templates were freebies from Designer Digital. Thanks for looking!

For my grandson Jack.  Made with Going Coastal fabric and the free pattern from fishsticks designs.  If it wasn't for friends I don't know if I could have put these together.  I've never made a lot of clothes so these patterns perplex me. But I did it and they will be in the mail so he can wear them this summer still. I spent the day at my friend Kathy's quilting.  Her husband went out of town so she asked the material girls to come on over and about 8 of us sewed today with a few different people coming tomorrow.  I always get so much done.  I got the crazy eight topper quilted and binding sewn on and 2 little runners for next to the bed also quilted and binding sewn on.  I just have to hand stitch all that down.  Pictures tomorrow. My friend Janice brought the Sizzix Big Shot Die Cutting machine a couple months ago at the Cambria retreatt and I borrowed a square of white fabric and used some pink fabric that I had and made this first. My original idea was to frame it with a pink border and call it a day.  And then about two weeks ago, before we met for our monthly Party Party Party at Thimble Towne, Janice emails and said she bought more dies and to bring some fusible and fabric if we want to play.  So I grabbed the pink fabrics again and some fusible and made the border.
