2023 Travels and Adventures

Well, sorry I haven't blogged about 2023 travels yet.  I thought I better hit those before I worry about 2024.  I've had a lot this year and if I put them both together it would be a super long post. My first big trip in 2023 was to Washington DC with Janice Minyard.  We went in April and we were fortunate enough to be there around the Cherry Blossom time (at least in time for the parade).  We did all the things you need to do in DC.  We toured the White House and visited a lot of the museums including the Holocaust Museum.  We also went to Virginia and to Monticello.   In May I went to California for my friend Sara's wedding.  And then in November Sara, her new husband Terry, and the two girls came to Texas to spend Thanksgiving with me. While in California, I stopped in to visit with Marcy and Brian (my brother and his wife).  Lori Nickels came over to visit with us too.  A few weeks after the wedding I drove to California t...

2023 Review of other Crafts

Not only did I Quilt and cross stitch this past year, but I attempted some other crafts.  Some of the things I'm going to show will be some items that I didn't make but that I helped or taught others to make.  I also belong to a craft group that meets once a month and there are a few fun things for that.  And others items are just things I thought I'd try. Craft Group - it's a group of about 14 ladies from my sisters neighborhood (mostly) and we meet once a month and have a great lunch and then do a fun craft.  Here are the crafts I made this year through them.  I wasn't able to make it to all of them so there won't be 12 crafts. I made this apron for one of my craft group friends who had a friend who became a master gardener (I just did the embroidery.) I embroidered on these aprons for us food service ladies for Adventure Club at church. I went to a retreat in the fall with my friend Beth Rhodes and made everyone a little Halloween treat bag. Instead of ...

2023 Year in Cross Stitch

It was a good year for me with cross stitch.  I found great comfort making small and large pieces.  If you need the name of a pattern let me know and I'll look it up, but for this post I'm just going to post pictures.  These are not in any particular order.   Sugar Stitches ornaments  I bought a small white tree and some small pink ornaments and put this up in my sewing room. I did this in honor of my mom's dad--my favorite grandpa.  The top says Eat Well, Costs Nothing.  He liked to say that when he would take you out for dinner (because he always treated). Some of these I completed before - I just put them together in a pillow this year. These are Prairie Schoolers annual Santas. Blackbird Designs Gifts for my two stitchy friends in California. Notice I added and quilting below cross stitch. I fully finished this but didn't get a photo of it. This might have been finished last year. Stitched but not framed yet.  I have the frame....
