Feeling the Love-from table toppers to quilt friends.

This is a real early Valentine table topper.  A friend wanted to make these toppers together to figure it all out so I decided to make one in some Valentine fat quarters that I had on hand.  Once you figure out the directions it was pretty easy and went together quickly.

I go to this monthly thing at the local quilt store called Party Party Party (or cut throat quilters to some)- we start about 6 pm and sew until 12-2am.  A couple months ago, the owner decided that we were all going to make this basket for another person in our group.  We drew names.  I got a lady who is very particular - a perfectionist which made me very nervous.  (This lady will throw away an applique block because she doesn't like a color she used.)  I finally finished mine and it was given to her last week.  I have no idea what she thought of it--I wasn't there.  I don't want to know.  But it's done.  You can see the pink one my friend Elaine made for me.  I gave her the fabric (same fabric I have on my ironing board cover and step stool).  I love the bag.  She had some perfect coordinating stripes and fabrics to go with it.  (Please ignore the pile of fabric next to the pink basket - that is my scrap basket that I need to start cutting up.)

I also quilted a charity quilt for our guild.  It was a panel with a couple borders.

This past weekend I spend a wonderful 2.5 days with a few of my friendship group (Material Girls) friends,   We went to Wonder Valley Ranch which is only about an hour from my house.  I only brought quilts that need to be quilted.  I finished one and got the stitch quilting and a little more on 3 more.
Pat Sloan's Vacation Mystery quilt all quilted and bound!

This was our set up.  There were only seven of us there so we had lots of room to set up.

Anna worked on a lot of little things.  This is a topper that she'll be teaching at her LQS (Bolts in the Bathtub in Lancaster)

Kathy finished her Downton Abbey Mystery quilt that she started at Road 2 California in January.

Lynne Marie worked on a scrappy quilt from one of the Scrap Therapy books.

The seven of us on the last day.  I hope we can stay longer next time.

That's what I've been doing.  I have all my block of the months cut and if I have time I'd like to get them done tomorrow.

We will be going to my step-daughter's for a few hours this weekend for our Thanksgiving celebration with them.  And I expect I'll be heading to Sacramento maybe for a day for a funeral.  One of  my childhood friends's mother passed away.  Knowing how hard that is I'd like to be there for her.  She and her mom came to my mom's service.

Thanks for looking.

  1. The retreat looks like a relaxing yet productive way to spend your time. And all that space!! LOVE Wonder Valley!
Sorry to hear about your friend's mom. Funerals seem to be the norm these days, as no one is getting any younger. Hope you get lots of time to sew. It seems to help. :)

  3. Reading your blog always inspires me. You get so many things finished! Love your Pat Sloan Mystery. I have gone to a few quilt retreats with 10-12 ladies in our Friday Sewing group-always fun and never long enough. I am doing Bonnie's Allietare too-in the 1/2 size as it took me 2 years to do a 90x90 Celtic Solstice.
