FQS Designer Mystery BOM and my latest Loose Threads piece

And by FQS I mean the 2013/2014 Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery Block of the Month program.  I spent quite a bit of time quilting this.  Decided to not do an all over design and custom quilted the whole thing.

I quilted the whole thing on my new Bernina 750 QE.  I had no problems.  I used bottom line in the bobbin and So Fine on the top.  Sewed like a charm.  I marked a lot of the top with a Frixion pen.  I used a cherry template on the border.  (The fabric has cherries on it.)  It's all made from Fig Tree Quilt material.

I also spend all Friday night embroidering labels.  It went pretty smoothly.  I think they will need to adjust my thread cutter.  It seems to mess up the bobbin threads or is pulling all the top thread under and knotting it after it is used every couple times.  It could also be a tension thing.  Although I did adjust the tension during the embroidery and it still did it.  Who knows.  But the labels are all done and on their appropriate quilts.  Got some towels embroidered with my nephews initials for when he leaves for college in the fall.

And I forgot to post pictures of the last Loose Threads round of design board inspiration pieces.  I'll show you mine here but I'll put a link to the groups blogs so you can see them all here. California Loose Threads

This is mine which I used Sara Kelly's design board for inspiration.  I also kind of created my piece using her  look of tiny strips.  (Never again for me.)
I used the middle picture from her board as my inspiration.

I now get to work on a gift for someone that a few friends and I are putting together.  So even when I finish it I can't share until October.

Thanks for looking.

  1. Your FQS quilt is incredibly sweet. The colors are so fresh and cheerful.

I agree with you about Sara's tiny fabric strip method. It looks difficult.

  2. The finished quilt looks great. I can hardly wait to see the quilting in person. The photos do not do your work justice.

  4. I just finished custom quilting my first quilt-my shoulders and neck need a vacation! Your quilt is lovely! I can't imagine doing all those tiny seams-but the end result is very nice.
