Pointless Quilter

I finished quilting the En Provence quilt from the Bonnie Hunter 2016/2017 Mystery. Didn't take any close ups.  I did bind in a very light purple; one of the lights I used in the top.  I did a lot of ditch stitching and some other little quilting in the lighter areas.  But not much.  It's so busy you wouldn't be able to see any fancy stitching.  But it's done. I did go to the Road 2 California quilt show in Ontario last weekend.  What a great show and I took 2 very fun classes.  One was Anita Grossmon Solomon's 2 color pineapple class.  I'm making mine in orange and black.  The other was an EQ7 class - applique and foundation piecing.  I am amazed at all the things I can do in that program that I never knew about.  The smart thing would have been to go home and play more, but I haven't yet. The Heart of the Valley (Central Valley, CA) shop hop was this weekend.  My two friends, Janice and Elaine, and I hit all 10 shops in 1.5 days.  We left at about 1:30 on Saturday and headed south to Bakersfield and then up to Porterville.  (4 shops in all on Friday). Here we are at Strawberry Patches.  Their theme was camp out.  With smore fixin's, hot dogs and the the campsite.  (Even with chirping birds and noises.)   I heard on Saturday they even had camp signing around the campfire (fake). On Saturday we left early to get to the Turlock store Cloth & Quilts at 9:00 am .  They had a baby shower theme.  From there we went to Bear Paws in Oakhurst, which was a beautiful drive in the mountains.  Then we headed to Fresno for Cottage Quilts and then to Clovis (Quilter's Paradise) who still had the rodeo theme going, then to the Mennonite Center in Reedly and then on home to Thimble Towne who had a Kentucky Derby theme--with horse ...

In March our guild had Marie Strait as a speaker and she had a scrap workshop.  She gives you two scrap block patterns to play with and then you can lay them out in any fashion you want.  The block I chose you can use in any log cabin pattern.  I made this quilt - it's 94" x 94" and barely made a dent in my stash.  I found the border from the More Nickel Quilts book by Pat Speth.  I quilted feathers in the light area but you can't even really see them - made for good practice. This past Friday and Saturday, two friends (Elaine Berry and Janice Minyard) and I, did the 2012 Heart of the Valley Shop Hop.  We did the southern route on Friday and we added the 2 Porterville stores in our roster even though they weren't officially on the hop.  On Saturday morning we drove to the northernest store in Turlock and worked our way south until we ended at our home store, Thimble Towne in Visalia.  At that store they had a photo area to fit with...

I did a little shopping at Road 2 California this year.  But first I took a great class by Karen Echmeier called "Let's Make Waves"  It's a technique class on curves.  We didn't really get a finished product but we did get to play and make a "piece of fabric".  Here's what I did.  I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with it yet.  I do know I'll add more to it. Then there was shopping. I have been working on a green and white quilt - one I can use on bed (or hang) during St. Patricks Day.  I needed more of the right greens for the quilt.  I also bought a wide batik fabric for the back of my Vintage Moments quilt.  Here are some misc. items, some flower purse handles, 2 sets of Kai scissors and some embroidery and other small scissors, 3" finished thangles, some yarn (for my mom to knit or crochet me a scarf or show me how to), some DMC floss, a material girl sign and a turning tool.  Some great fabrics.  Soccer fabric so I ...
