Pointless Quilter

These are all the projects that I finished this past year. Thank goodness for the blog - it's helped me keep track of what I do. I didn't think I finished a lot this year but when you add in all the boutique items and gifts, I did pretty good.  Mostly at the beginning of the year.  I had a hiccup in my life after summer and that put a halt on too much quilting.  Then I changed my mind and tried to get busy creating. I did finish 9 of the 15 projects I had on my 2017 Goal list.  I finished the En Provence Quilt, made the Halloween Embroidery quilt, finished the guild mystery quilt, the quilt for my great niece and for my nephew and his wife, finished my English Paper Pieced tumbling block quilt, finished the Pineapple quilt, the Fat Quarter Shop 2016/17 Designer mystery, and the Christmas ornaments. I finally finished another 2017 goal quilt and then a quickie little baby quilt. I embroidered these blocks sometime in 2016.  Didn't know what I was going to do with them and finally figured it out.  I didn't quilt a lot on this quilt since it will just be a wall hanging.   Plus I didn't want to quilt in the embroidered parts and thought it would look weird to have it heavily quilting all around and the blocks not quilted. I can't remember the name of the designer of the machine embroidery.  It's all on my old laptop which I'm too lazy to get and turn on and wait for it to load, etc. I also finished this little quilt.  It was from one of Fat Quarter's Shops sampler boxes. I used the little 3.5" blocks they supplied and everything else was from my stash.  Even the back. I would have posted these before I left on my trip to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, but my computer took a dive (15 month old Toshiba Satellite - the keyboard stopped working).  I took it to Best Buy to repair - which they couldn't and the warranty expired of course so they game me a wireless keyboard to use.  So much for a convenient laptop to take on trips. Anyway, here is what I finished before I left on July 2nd. This is the Fat Quarter Shop 2016/2017 Designer Mystery Quilt. A little close up of the quilting. My nephew graduates from high school this year.  I decided to let him pick a pattern and colors and I think he did great.  This is his quilt. Simple straight line quilting. Saw a tutorial on Pinterest how to make the label in the binding. This is a pattern from Connecting Threads called Move Over.  I added one extra set of colors to make it a bit wider and also made it a little longer.  Wanted it to fit his dorm bed.  I also used a great wool flannel for the back.  A pretty simple pattern as long as you keep your strips in order. I also finished our guilds mystery quilt.  It's not due until August so I'm ahead of the game here too.  I found some fabrics in my stash for the front and back!  Love when that happens.  The fabrics were actually from a kit that I got from a friendship group member that passed away a few years ago.  I realized I wouldn't make her pattern so de-constructed her kit. My resolution list (or list of fabric packs or kits) listed below posts was not inspiring me to finish anything on the list.  Maybe because the list is too long and should be even longer since I didn't add a lot of packs/fabrics added in 2016.  So I've narrowed down my list to 15 quilts that I want and/or need to get done.  These are all UFO's or quilts I need to make for gifts.  This does not mean I won't work on other quilts but that I want to try and get all these done by the end of this year.  So here it goes. 1.    Bonn ie Hunter En Provence Mystery -top done – need to pin and quilt.  Check out what everyone else's tops look like here at Bonnie Hunter's blog. 2.     Bonnie Hunter Orca Bay-started and scraps set aside so I won't use on anything else 3.     Circle of Illusion – circle done – need to work on how to set it.  Thinking applique in corners. 4.     Halloween embroidery-Embroide...
