Pointless Quilter

Each year, my siblings and I exchange home-made ornaments.  We've been doing this for years and my Christmas tree is full of all these wonderful ornaments. First the ornaments I made.  I cross stitched three for my siblings and just ran out of time for the two extra's for my older nephews. Speaking of my nephews, my oldest nephews wife gave birth today -- my first grand niece.  Meet Adeline Margaret.  Margaret was my mother's name who passed away 3 years ago, so that they used her name as the baby's middle name means a lot. My dad is thrilled to be a great-grandfather and we plan on taking him to visit her in April. Here are the ornaments I got from my siblings. My brothers wonderful woodwork. Between cookie batches I was able to piece Clue 4 of the  Bonnie Hunter Mystery - En Provence .  And here are all 4 clues all nestled safely in a box.  I think I will need a bigger box. I'm excited to see how these will all be put together and how she uses the green and yellows that we pulled for the quilt. I also made some more microwave bowl cozies for gifts. I also had this crazy idea to make Orca Bay in 2017 and thought I should sort my strips to see if I had enough blue and red. I think I have enough of everything but yellow and purple to make several of her string fling quilts.   See that pink box - it's stuffed full of neutrals. I'm all set. Thanks for looking. Just in time for the Monday Link up at Quiltville !  I was able to finish the 168 purple 4-patches.  I finished the 2 patches Saturday night and put them in a basket. And last night and tonight I worked to get all the 4 patches together. Success! I also finished this topper from Fig Tree & Company's Little Box of Fig.  The pattern and fabric top and binding were part of the box of goodies (with a lot of other fun stuff too).  I finished quilting and binding this on Saturday. Other than wrapping presents and Christmas shopping, this is all I've done. Thanks for looking.

For the last 4 years, I have been participating in Bonnie Hunter's Annual Mystery.  (Easy Street 2012, Celtic Solstice 2013, Grand Illusion 2014, Allietere 2015) and I'm doing it again this year, En Provence.  She has a link up every week too which is fun to see how everyone is doing and how the quilt looks with different colors and fabrics.  She is always inspired by trips she takes and this year she took a trip to France and lavender fields.  This years colors include purples which aren't my favorite, but I happen to have enough and who knows, I may really like it all together.  Here are my scrap fabrics (sans the pink fabrics). We have already been given 2 clues and I just caught up today.  The first clue was to make 4 patches using neutrals.  I got a lot of my neutrals from my strip basket which I'm thrilled about. The second clue uses the pink 'constant' fabric' meaning the pink will be the same fabrics throughout the quilts.  All the other colo

Today the Material Girls, the friendship group I belong to, revealed this years' challenge quilts.  The challenge this year was Stack 'n Whack.  I finished mine a few months ago and posted it a few posts back. The border fabric was my stack 'n whack fabric which I cut into circles and appliqued down. Our next years challenge is Road Trip.  It could be using a block with a states name, fabric from a trip, or a quilt about a trip or a place.  Pretty broad themed but should be fun.  I have some ideas but we'll see if any of those work. Our guild also had their holiday party.  I won three baskets in the raffle.
